Betek Boya ve Kimya Sanayi A.Ş., whose name is the combination of the first syllables of the Turkish words “Beton” (meaning “concrete”) and “Teknoloji” (meaning “technology”), was founded in 1988. At its first years of participating into the industry, Betek A.Ş., developed high quality products demanded by the construction materials sector at the fields of concrete additives, ready plasters and water isolation materials and put onto the market. With its products being admired and preferred and thus achieving serious sales volumes, it decided to launch the production of construction paints as a result of researches intended for new markets.

Betek A.Ş. stepped in the construction paints field in 1993 through its technological cooperation with the biggest paint brand Caparol. This partnership became a milestone both for Betek A.Ş. and the Turkish paint sector; Turkey became acquainted with a brand new brand and acquired the technological abundance of the biggest paint brand in Europe. Betek A.Ş., which is the first Turkish paint company commenced production with a European partner, realized the first foreign capital inflow to the paint sector.

Up to present, by putting the products manufactured by the cutting edge technology but unknown for Turkish paint sector on to the market, Betek A.Ş., acquired the identity of “leading and innovative brand making high quality production” and became the strongest company of the paint sector which began to be exemplified in the industry in a very short time. By 2001, it picked up the market leadership of paint sector. Starting TV commercials in 1997 and gaining a high familiarness in the eyes of customers with Filli Boya brand in a very short time, Betek A.Ş. stil maintains its market leadership with its over 5.000 sales points and about 1.000 employees.

According to the yearly “Turkey’s Top 500 Industrial Enterprises” survey of Istanbul Chamber of the Industry, Filli Boya, preserving its growth trend and leaving behind all other paint companies, moved up from 123th to 114th place in the list and from 113th to 105th in the sorting of Private Industrial Enterprises.

In 2004, in addition to Kaynarca Plant built on an area of 24.000 m², it started production at Gebze Plant, which is the biggest plant of our country and possesses the highest technology, built on an area of 103.500m² with a closed area of 43.190m² and whose yearly production capacity is 150 thousands of tones.

Betek A.Ş., adopting the environmental protection and health standards of European Community towards which Turkey is proceeding for full membership, took its first step in 1993 and began to consider EC Paint Standards for all products it was producing.

How we look ahead?

Paint consumption per person is about 4-4.5 kgs in our country whilst in Europe it is around 20-22 kgs. With increasing young population, rapid urbanization, changing family structure and life style, an increase in both paint demand and per person consumption will be inevitable.

“Being the leader and assertive by becoming innovative and taking risks” is a philosophy for Betek A.Ş.. Considering that there are a wide variety of new products out of 2.000 kinds of products of Caparol that can be offered to Turkish paint sector, it will be inevitable for Filli Boya to continue its growth with high quality new products that will be followed up in the sector .
